Day Rehabilitation Program
Within the CHRISTUS St. Michael Day Rehabilitation Program, extensive patient therapy and education is provided with an interdisciplinary team approach to help participants achieve better functional outcomes.

The Day Rehabilitation Program provides outpatient rehabilitation for people with stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, major multiple trauma, fractured femur, brain injury, polyarthritis and neurological disorders.
Admission Requirements
In order for a patient to be admitted into the day rehabilitation program, the following criteria must be met:
- Patient demonstrates interdisciplinary needs.
- Patient must have the ability to communicate and to cognitively integrate instructions.
- Patient must be self-motivated for program attendance.
- Patient must be medically stable.
- Patient must be managed on an out-patient basis and does not require 24 hour nursing care.
- Patient resides in a safe environment and is able to transport to and from the program.
Referral to enroll in the program is obtained from your physician. Each patient is evaluated by the Medical Director of the Day Rehabilitation Program at CHRISTUS St. Michael Rehabilitation Hospital.

- Improve self care management
- Increase functional ability
- Increase exercise tolerance
- Increase sense of well being
- Decrease duration of hospital admission
- Decrease cost of medical care.
Facts about the Program
Most patients will participate in the program from two to three months, usually 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., three days a week. The interdisciplinary team working with the patient consists of a physician, nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, social worker, psychologist/counselor and pastoral care representative.
The cost of the program is covered by insurance in most cases. The amount of coverage varies between companies, but usually insurance will defer the majority of the cost.
